School Readiness Screening
Occupational therapists assist children who are having difficulty with any occupations or tasks they are required to do in their day. For children, these jobs include:
- attending and participating in day care or school tasks (colouring, cutting, paying attention in the classroom, listening to teacher instructions and playing with peers)
- home jobs (getting dressed, getting ready for school, eating and using the bathroom)
- community jobs (riding a bicycle or scooter, participating in swimming lessons, or attending a birthday party).
Qualia therapists are university-trained professionals who can assist with underlying capacities such as gross and fine biomechanical skills, cognition and learning, confidence and motivation, sensory processing as well as addressing functional task accomplishment.

What will this screening include?
The aim of the screening is to identify those children who might benefit from additional support prior to starting school, and to provide strategies and recommendations directly to the parents to assist these children in the lead up to starting kindergarten. The occupational therapist will screen for functional capacities that students are required to do during kindergarten. These include:
- pencil and paper tasks
- fine motor skills
- visual motor skills
- attention and self-regulation skills
These 30 minute screening sessions cost $112.
Your child’s session can be booked during the last two weeks of Term 4, from Monday 11th December through to Friday 22nd December. Once you have booked, we will send you an online intake form to complete before the session.
