Pencil cases – An Unexpected Classroom Distractor!
One of the best ways to get your kids looking forward to the upcoming school year and support them to be organised, is to get them the perfect pencil case. But, wow isn’t there plenty to choose from! Children often want the most colourful, extravagant and bold pencil cases. Pencil cases with zippers, glitter, images or animals and many compartments. But did you know your child’s pencil case may be hindering their learning, attention and organisational skills?
We recommend using a small/moderate sized clear plastic pencil case. A clear pencil case will make it easier for your child to locate the appropriate tools for the task e.g. rubber, pencils or glue. A smaller pencil case ensures that your child only includes items in their pencil case that they will need. It will also make it easier to transport in the classroom and to help maintain a tidy workspace.
Here are some links below of some recommended pencil cases for children:
It is also important to label all items in the pencil case. This will ensure that your child will retrieve any items that belong to them.
To help their organisational skills, you can also place a keychain visual checklist on their bag. This will also help them ensure that all their items are in their bag.
Good luck with all your back to school preparations!
