School and Pre-School Based Intervention
Qualia therapists work with children in their school environment to assist children with tasks in their day. We frequently receive referrals for:
- organised writing
- fine motor skills
- coordination & gross motor skills
- attention & concentration
- following classroom routine
- sensory processing and self-regulation
- playing with friends
Qualia therapists work with children in their pre-school environment to assist children with tasks in their day. We frequently receive referrals for:
- pencil grasp;
- pre-writing skills;
- letter recognition and formation;
- fine motor skills;
- play skills;
- skills in independence (i.e. dressing);
- coordination and gross motor skills;
- organisation, attention and concentration; and
- school readiness.
Being involved in a child’s school or pre-school environment allows us to liaise with teachers and stay in touch with what they are learning at school. We find we get the best outcomes by completing sessions at school or pre-school where these tasks usually take place in their day.
Qualia offers occupational therapy sessions at some schools and pre-schools all across the Inner West of Sydney.
Qualia also offers in-school screening at schools across the Inner West of Sydney. This involves completing a short, one-to-one screening assessment to determine if a child is developing appropriately or if they would benefit from occupational therapy. Brief reports outlining home and classroom recommendations are provided where appropriate to assist child development.
