Social Play Group

Program Details
The aim of the Social Play Group is to support early play and social in an informal group setting. It is suitable for children (3-4 years) experiencing difficulty playing and engaging with peers. Each week the group includes an unstructured play session for 15 minutes followed by structured games, table top activities and group collaboration activities.
The main underlying capacity areas addressed in this 10-week program include:
- Social skills for preschool or the classroom
- Social skills for playing with friends
- Social skills for reading and giving cues (body language and non verbal communication)
- Functional play skills with toys
- Attention, engagement and turn taking skills
Group Goals
Goals are set for the group based on the individuals that are attending. Individual goals are also set to address within the group context. Your occupational therapist will speak to you about this process.
